Merry Post Christmas to you all, i hope Santa brought you everything you wanted.

This is Junko Oki's new book (present from hubby), it is so delightful, full of stunning images, i can't get enough of this extremely talented womans work.

...with a little description on each piece at the back of the book

update on my boro stitching....

...i'm still working on the boro bag i started a few months ago (although i have other projects still ongoing),the bag itself is mostly finished,  i just need some wooden buttons to be able to close it.
I've been working on the strap over christmas, filling in random stitches here and there...

 It's very relaxing
and i've just found a beautiful vintage buckle, in my stash of found objects, for the strap...i hope it fits, it would finish it off perfectly.

This was another Christmas present from hubby, a subscription to this magazine.  This is the December issue which i received in November, but Gav wrapped it up for christmas.  I love it and have a few now, as well as interesting articles, it has amazing imagery which i use often as a resource for art.  I was thrilled on christmas day to find this feature on "La Maison Du Pastel"...Henri Roche's legacy and one of the best kept secrets of the pastel world...

The photos are pure eye candy, i'd kill for a set of drawers like that

The equipment for rolling and cutting the pastels.

Drawers and racks full of colour.
I use pastels occasionally and although not roche i love working with them in a slightly unconventional way.  I've had these for about eight years and i paint with them as you would use watercolours, using them with watercolour paint lifting the chalky colour with a brush and laying down on the paper...the colours are fantastic, the only downside being that you need fixative to seal them, i use them a lot in backgrounds.

...and my metallic wax pastels in delicious colours.
Another project i've been working on over Christmas is my journal/diary/planner/sketchbook.  I love journals and have never really found the perfect one, i.e. the right thickness, quality paper, nice design and places to store all sorts of things...
The cover is begging for some stitching...

It's still a work in progress..
A beautiful blue tit painted at one of our Weston Park get togethers and gifted to me by my gorgeous and extremely talented friend Karen Grenfell
It sits perfectly just inside the cover...i must get her to sign it.
 My first sketch.

My first pocket for lists,,,i love lists

I will keep adding bits and pieces through the year and may need some straps to hold it all in place...we'll see.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year
See you in 2015

XOXO

I'm making journals this year to celebrate my 60th birthday. It's not while August but I plan starting in January and ending it in December

Thanks Jo. Linda, the first bird sketch is on fabric, it was done by my friend Karen Grenfell https://www.etsy.com/shop/mimilove as part of a tutorial she was demonstrating. The rest is on thick handmade paper. The pretty stuff is decopatch paper. I love it and have a bit more work to do on it. Thanks for compliments xx
