Poetry

It's quite amazing how quickly the time goes these days, Christmas snook up on me whilst i wasn't looking.  I coped by just fitting in odd chores here and there and it seems to have worked.  My tree is finally up, i say up as it's fallen twice (once on top of me).  I've managed once again to break a few decorations (this happens every year), but it gives me a chance to replace with new and a change.

Christmas is going to be a quiet, relaxing time for me this year, just four of us and then it will be hectic again helping to move my daughter into her new flat in Chester.  There are also big changes to my Indigo Moon shop here in Montgomery, more about that later, and i have some new creative projects to do.

In the meantime i've created these delicious little poetry books.  Eight little books made for my exhibition "Nothing but a House" in August this year, four of which have sold.  I've made another four and they will be in my Etsy shop in the new year.

Twelve pages of watercolour paper beautifully embellished with vintage fabric, ephemera,  thread and  a selection of my own unpublished poems.  Inside, there is a smaller concertinaed double sided book, which has been carefully stitched in place.  These are one off original pieces.

I've had such a lovely week!

Following our nice relaxing weekend away in Chester, I managed to spend a few days in my art studio creating.  I have a thing about horses at the moment, mainly wooden toy horses, all shabby and faded and worn.  I have a few miniature ones that i picked up at various boot sales and they look great on my assemblage pieces, but i need more!

I love this little vintage book, i found it amongst a stash of vintage books i bought ages ago for the shop, and i couldn't part with it. I have an inkling to paint a wooden doll and i love this style.

Currently reading:
I found this book in Chester for fifty pence, couldn't resist it...
"Vivid images leave your mouth watering and your senses sharpened. Moore Ede'ssenseof adventure is compelling... he imparts the fascinating history of honey with genuine, insightful narrative and a restless passion for knowledge and adventure".

"Our treasure lies in the beehive of our knowledge. We are perpetually on the way thither, being by nature winged insects and honey gatherers of the mind".

Welcome....again to all from here
Unfortunately, my blogger woes have forced me into making a 'whole' new blog and i'm hoping now that I won't have to change it again any time soon!!!

I've been experimenting more with paper and fabric collages, using vintage ephemera and fabric, i'm finding this new process very thought provoking and creative.

"Magic Dawns"
mixed media collage
(12.5cm x 22cm approx.)

For these pieces i've used a page from an old ledger and stitched it onto a vintage reciept dated 1915 with various fabric remnants from a victorian quilt.  The flower is made out of dark annealed steel wire.
This piece is called "Magic Dawns" and the the words read:
"Magic dawns and sunsets paint the sky"

"Sometimes"
mixed media collage
(11.5cm x 16.5cm approx.)

For this piece i used a watercolour paper backing and stitched on vintage ephemera, including map pages and vintage fabric.  The stem of the flower is made from dark annealed steel wire.
