Hello Spring...

Hugely busy few months going on here with one thing and another.  Our whole house/building is undergoing massive change to incorporate living space, the shop and the creative workshops.  The biggest decision was to move our living area to the top floor of the house and have a flat or 'loft living' as i like to call it.  Don't get me wrong i've not moved into a dark little attic room, the top floor of our house is actually very bright, cosy and comfortable.  But more on that soon.

Plans for 'Indigo Moon Creative Workshops' are all going full steam ahead with a few more bookings pencilled in for 2016 and even one for 2017.  A problem I had was not having a diary with years enough ahead to book artists in - and yes i know there is always the calendar on microsoft, but given my penchant for chucking wine and/or coffee over my computer i decided that there has to be a backup!

 ...so my beautiful girl treated me to this lovely thick lined notebook from Paperchase and i made my own, it works a treat.

I'm still madly preparing the rooms for the workshop and now that the living space is more organised i can get on with a few things, of course we are working on the shop too so it all takes time.

Hopefully the Indigo Moon Creative Workshops web site will be up an running very soon.

I've not had time for doing anything remotely creative for the last few months, most of my supplies have been packed away with all the upheaval going on here, however, i have had time to sit quietly on a late evening, gather my thoughts and look at other people's creations.

One of my favourite blogs for art is Cathy Cullis.  Her work is heart meltingly beautiful and she's just produced this limited edition poetry zine, i had to have it for my collection.

Cathy always puts in a little extra piece of art, today was a small painting of a lady on black card, i can't wait to frame it.

Another blog i enjoy is Artemis Russell, AKA Junkaholique, always worth a visit.  Naturally there are many others, but too many to mention here.

Ok that's it for now, back to painting walls and doors etc etc etc...

Table Art

I'm currently preparing work for a small exhibition here in Montgomery in the Summer around the theme "House / Home".  (more details soon). 

I've been immensely inspired by artist Cathy Cullis and her current ideas and art around still life. I thought i'd pay her tribute and do some small pieces of (what i call) table art.  These are small square works in water colours of  "table" content embellished with a touch of gold leaf in deep square frames, i really like the look.  (please excuse the photography as i took them in the frames under my twinkly lights which reflected in the glass - Having put them in the frames i didn't want to mess with them again in case they got damaged.

I love 'stuff' placed on tables, it varies from home to home and says something about the people living there.  My kitchen is the hub of our home as well as the office for our businesses and a temporary stock room for the shop.  It's where we live, eat, greet and entertain all who visit it's homely.  There is something different on our big farmhouse kitchen table everyday, but nearly always there will be a vase of flowers, a bowl of fruit, cups and a tea/coffee pot.  Our friends are used to it being messy (in a good way) and it's not unusual for us all to sit drinking tea surrounded by boxes of shop stock, papers and various other things.  I find it all fascinating and have taken to looking carefully and analysing what other people store on their tables.

These will also make nice artist greeting cards that i can sell at both the exhibition and Indigo Moon.

Tomorrow i'll post photos of Indigo Moon, there have been a few changes as some of our bigger pieces have sold over the last few weeks, it's looking beautiful as usual and worth showing off.

We have a little bit of sunshine today, not much, but a glimpse and it's so welcome.

I thought i'd share with you these wonderful pieces of art by Cathy Cullis.  Cathy is one of my favourite artists and i'm finding ALL her work irresistible.  I bought these pieces from her Etsy shop recently and they're just waiting for my "reading room" to be finished before i frame them and put them up.  They bring joy to my heart.

 Cathy is currently working on a very interesting "Paper Houses" project, I love what she's doing, have a look at her new site and prints by following the link on her blog post.

Last week was our wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate by driving off into the sun (well cloudy drizzle actually) up to Conwy for the day!  A lovely drive up through beautiful countryside to the coast.  By the time we arrived the sun was shining and we walked around the town and it's amazing imposing Norman castle.  Then we found a lovely antique/vintage shop where we purchased a few items.  The shop was huge and it took us ages to wander around.  Gav and i are always looking for different things in these sort of places, i'm like a magnet to textiles and ephemera, and couldn't believe my luck when i found these 1950's notebooks, they were in a little bucket advertised at £2 each, there were twelve and i bought the lot.

 I have plans to pick some images from old 1950's childrens annuals and stick them to the front, they'll look great in Indigo Moon.

I also found this box of old greeting cards for £5, there are about twenty cards and a little book in here, no envelopes sadly, but they're really nice, if a little dusty!

None of my own artwork to show you today, i'm spending all my time working on exhibition work.  I'm currently having to do some very fiddly papier mache(ing) and i have a kind of production line going!  I'll show you soon.
