Time...

Thanks to those of you who have sent emails and facebook messages asking if i'm ok,  i'm touched. Yes, very definitely all ok here, i haven't abandoned this blog again, i intend to do all i've said, i'm just need a little more time than anticipated!

There are some big changes happening here, a lot going on with the Indigo Moon shop.and as i've been wanting to spend some more time on my own art i've also been working on some new textile pieces (which I hope to show you as soon as i've
decided on the framing options) and some paintings.

In the meantime here's a sneaky peak of some works in progress....

Boro Scarf

In my last post i mentioned 'rainy day reading', well there's been plenty of that over the last week or so.  It's been very lovely as my living space here at the armoury is at the top and we have roof windows...there's something so nice about sitting curled up with a book and a hot chocolate listening to the pattering of rain on the windows.

There's also a lot of stitching going on and some ideas and preparations for new things happenings here at Indigo Moon.  More on that soon.

The beginnings of a new 'Boro' scarf, this was at the stage where i was trying out colours/designs.  I wasn't entirely happy with the stitching colours and wished that i'd stuck to just plain white, but once it was done it was too much work to undo.

Inthe end i went for reds, browns and some stripes and it worked for me.  The linen i used is too heavy for a scarf so i'm experimenting with different types.

Overall, i'm happy with it.  It's completely hand sewn in the 'boro' style and very wearable, despite the thicker linen.

More soon

Rainy Day Reading

It's a day of rain and gale's here in Montgomery and i'm snuggled up on the sofa with a coffee and some books/computer for company.  Perfect really.

My thoughts are currently drawn to the success of the Indigo Moon Creative Workshops venture and to next years programme (found here but continuously being updated), my beloved father (who is always on my mind, i miss him more than i can say) and ongoing ideas for an art gallery/shop to be incorporated here somewhere.  It's all rather exciting.

As it was my birthday recently, these books arrived, i've not fully looked at them yet, i have a strange ritual to undertake before i can even open them, i devour the images back and front, and there's a touchy/feely/smelling thing that goes on....i still love my kindle, but these type of books are in a different league!  Anyway.

"Fabric Pictures".  Janet Bolton's artwork is soul stirringly wonderful, just looking at the cover inspires me no end.

Claire's book on slow mindful stitch is right there in my zone at the moment, i seem to be doing a lot of this is spare minutes, it's very cathartic.

I really like Cas Holmes' work and her thought processes for creating, i think i'll learn a lot from this book.

All i need now is to get all my chores done and snuggle up and open the pages...
so looking forward to it.

Behind the counter...

Last week it was necessary for me to spend the week in the shop as gav was required to do, what i refer to as, the 'man jobs', i,e, putting up lights/blinds/fixing things to walls etc and to sort out the many 'man boxes'. emptied from the many 'man cupboards/drawers' he cleared (into boxes) when we moved our living space!

The CD sortage was the worse, in fact it was the only thing he managed to get done through the week as it was so vast. A result of sorts was achieved as i now have light in my bathroom as hundreds thousands of cd's have been removed from in front of the window and binned!

Despite having a very busy (and very profitable week)  whilst behind the counter i managed to get some stitching done whilst people wandered around.

I was in need of a new handbag!

Well, actually...it's a sort of quest for me....like the holy grail

I can never seem to find the right one

so...i thought, if i made one to my own specifications, surely that would be the perfect one

...oh yes...and a purse, that's a quest too

I maded this one with a little removable inner pocket (easier to find things)

Notes and cards one side, receipts etc on the other and change in the little pocket maybe

I still have a way to go but it's coming along just nicely

Have a look over at the Indigo Moon Creative Workshop blog to see how things are coming along.

Gentle Stitching

This morning i was in Manchester where it was beautifully bright and sunny but on returning here to Monty around mid day it's now very grey and rainy.

So what's a girl to do?  Stitch! ...adding stitches to my canvas bag....
just gentle, relaxing stitching..watching and listening to the rain and letting the needle guide where it wants to go....

...and then work on some pieces for my sketchbook, or stitchbook....

Don't you just love a bit of gold leaf?

I've just updated the Indigo Moon Creative Workshops blog,....pop and have a look at the work in progress

Workshops

I have my first two workshops booked for September/October 2015 with two great artists.  Check out the new Indigo Moon Creative Workshops" Blog here.

There is a huge amount of work to get through here to get to September, i'm hoping that in between it all i can still manage some creativity.

I'm still enjoying my boro stitching and have nearly finished the four small purses i'm currently working on:

These are an absolute joy to stitch, they're very tactile and delicious.

I will carry on working on them and hope to have them in my Etsy shop before
the end of the month.

Please take a look at my Creative Workshop blog it will be updated as when workshops are booked and finalised.  Also i will post updated photos of the rooms as they get sorted.

XOXO
